YŌRA
YŌRA are the first frozen yoghurt store to open in Wellington in a decade. We needed to create a brand that felt unique to the city and generate hype around the store’s upcoming grand opening.
We set out to build a brand that felt uniquely Wellington and unmistakably YŌRA. We began by developing a series of hand-drawn illustrations to bring fun and whimsy to the visual identity; including our beloved YŌRA cow. Across printed bowls to the website and the core logomark, she quickly became a central pillar of the brand system.
The final brand features a bold, condensed font for the logotype and a candy-coloured palette of dark brown, soft raspberry, and plum.
In the buildup to the grand opening, we turned to social media. We grew their organic following by focusing on three distinct stages: introducing the brand with an air of mystery, announcing the return of frozen yoghurt to Wellington, and inviting customers to be part of the fun at YŌRA’s grand opening. Bold branding, strategic organic growth and targeted radio promotion garnered outstanding results.
YŌRA gained 4,100 social media followers in just two months. 3,500 customers queued for hours on opening day and the store sold more than two-weeks’ worth of frozen yoghurt in just 24-hours.
